Turlough O'Connor, one of

most significant Galway tribes. Son of Ruaidri, King of
Connaught, Turlough was an extremely popular king with his
people, so much so that he was known and still is, as
Turlough the Great.
Merlin Park, formerly Doughiska, was an O'Connor castle of
the 16th century.
Still in good condition, it was lived in
to the mid-19th century. |
